John Beard died in 1863 and as the Holtermann Collection images were not taken until circa 1872-3 the caption from the NLA is not correct, the woman on the left in this image does not match the image of Harriet Beard in the Excelsior Battery images taken in 1872-3, she appears to be to young to be Harriet Beard, Harriet was born in 1819 putting her age at 53 in 1872. The obscured building at left of image is the Protestant Hall. (653) |
